Update 11/13/24

Honey is now 5 months old and weighs almost 4 lbs. She is one active and loving little girl. You would not know that she came into rescue as one little sick puppy. She is now full of life, love and energy.

Honey went back for her re-check from her PDA surgery that she had in August. Cardiology was very happy with the results and her surgery was a success, but her heart is still not completely back to normal size and she still a slightly leaky mitral valve that most likely will remain that way. They said that the valve could still close as she grows over the next year, but will probably remain leaky. They felt this should not cause her any problems in the future and felt Honey should be able to continue to live a normal active playful life. Honey will need a  re-check in a year with a cardiologist including an echocardiogram to monitor how she is doing and to see if the valve has closed. Going forward after that she may require yearly cardiology appointments depending on how her valve looks in a year. Honey still needs to be spayed and then she will be ready for her new home. Honey is a very active and curious puppy. She would love another small dog to play with.
